Motorists warned over Beetham Highway water rupture

Mo­torists are be­ing urged to ex­er­cise cau­tion while trav­el­ling along the Beetham High­way east­bound af­ter a rup­tured wa­ter line in the vicin­i­ty of the NP Gas Sta­tion is caus­ing haz­ardous dri­ving con­di­tions.

The Min­istry of Works and In­fra­struc­ture is­sued a pub­lic no­tice to­day ad­vis­ing that a wa­ter line along the east­bound car­riage­way has rup­tured, with wa­ter be­ing pro­ject­ed sev­er­al feet in­to the air.

The Min­istry warned that the force of the wa­ter could af­fect vis­i­bil­i­ty for dri­vers and cre­ate dan­ger­ous con­di­tions along that sec­tion of the road­way.

Mo­torists have been urged to pro­ceed with cau­tion, re­duce speed, main­tain a safe fol­low­ing dis­tance and com­ply with all in­struc­tions from of­fi­cials on site.

The Min­istry said it is work­ing along­side the Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty to ad­dress the sit­u­a­tion. It al­so apol­o­gised for any in­con­ve­nience caused.
