Charity golf tournament raises support for Shelter’s work with domestic violence survivors

Flow Trinidad has re­turned for a fifth con­sec­u­tive year as the Plat­inum Spon­sor of The Shel­ter for Bat­tered Women and Chil­dren's An­nu­al Char­i­ty Golf Tour­na­ment, con­tin­u­ing its sup­port for pro­grammes that as­sist women and chil­dren af­fect­ed by do­mes­tic vi­o­lence.

The an­nu­al tour­na­ment brings to­geth­er cor­po­rate spon­sors and sup­port­ers to raise funds for The Shel­ter's ser­vices, in­clud­ing emer­gency ac­com­mo­da­tion and coun­selling for sur­vivors.

"At Flow, con­nect­ing peo­ple goes be­yond tech­nol­o­gy," said Si­mone Mar­tin-Sul­gan, Vice Pres­i­dent and Gen­er­al Man­ag­er, Flow Trinidad. "We be­lieve busi­ness­es have a re­spon­si­bil­i­ty to help build stronger, safer com­mu­ni­ties. The Shel­ter pro­vides hope and heal­ing for women and chil­dren dur­ing some of the most dif­fi­cult mo­ments of their lives, and we are ho­n­oured to con­tin­ue sup­port­ing this im­por­tant work."

Flow has sup­port­ed The Shel­ter since 2020, in­clud­ing spon­sor­ing its fundrais­ing movie pre­miere ear­li­er this year. The com­pa­ny said the part­ner­ship forms part of its wider com­mu­ni­ty out­reach and ef­forts to sup­port ini­tia­tives ad­dress­ing gen­der-based vi­o­lence.

Es­tab­lished in 1987, The Shel­ter for Bat­tered Women and Chil­dren pro­vides a safe space for women and chil­dren ex­pe­ri­enc­ing do­mes­tic vi­o­lence. In ad­di­tion to emer­gency ac­com­mo­da­tion, it of­fers coun­selling and sup­port ser­vices aimed at help­ing sur­vivors re­build their lives.
