WASA responds to ruptured transmission main

The Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (WASA) has con­firmed that emer­gency re­sponse teams were de­ployed to­day af­ter a trans­mis­sion main rup­tured near Beetham Gar­dens dur­ing a clean­ing ex­er­cise be­ing car­ried out by an­oth­er agency.

In a me­dia re­lease, WASA said it was alert­ed to the in­ci­dent and im­me­di­ate­ly be­gan re­sponse op­er­a­tions at the site.

The Au­thor­i­ty said de­wa­ter­ing op­er­a­tions were al­ready un­der­way to al­low of­fi­cials to as­sess the ex­tent of the dam­age and de­ter­mine the re­pairs re­quired.

WASA as­sured cus­tomers that ef­forts were on­go­ing to min­imise the im­pact of the dis­rup­tion as crews fo­cus on restora­tion work.

The Au­thor­i­ty said fur­ther up­dates would be pro­vid­ed as re­pairs progress.
