Two men appeared before a Tobago Magistrate on Friday charged with trafficking more than $1 million worth of marijuana and possession of ammunition.
Raiz Neptune and Shevonne Lucas of Young Street, Canaan, Tobago, appeared before Master Shabana Shahon charged with trafficking in 33.2 kilogrammes of marijuana and possession of 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The items were allegedly found by the police in a house on August 29 at Young Street, Canaan.
The street value of the drugs was estimated at $1,105,800. Other items, including identification documents, bank documents, scales, bags and cling wrap, were seized by the police.
Charges were laid by PC Kennedy of the Crown Point Police Station.
The accused were represented by attorney Roarke Benjamin.
TTPS prosecutor Sgt Reagan Ramanan, who is also an attorney, objected to bail being granted to Neptune, who has previous matters before the court.
The court denied him bail and remanded him into custody.
Lucas was granted $450,000 bail with reporting conditions.
The matter was adjourned to next February for a Status Hearing. - Sascha Wilson
