Three arrested; vehicle recovered in Central Division operations

Three men were ar­rest­ed and a stolen ve­hi­cle re­cov­ered dur­ing sep­a­rate po­lice op­er­a­tions across the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion on Fri­day.

Po­lice said around 2.30 a.m. on Fri­day, a man re­port­ed that his white Nis­san Ti­i­da had been stolen from the dri­ve­way of his home af­ter he parked and se­cured it.

The re­port was made at the Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion, af­ter which of­fi­cers vis­it­ed the scene and made cer­tain ob­ser­va­tions.

The ve­hi­cle was sub­se­quent­ly re­cov­ered by of­fi­cers of the Cunu­pia Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID) and tak­en to the Cunu­pia Po­lice Sta­tion, where it was se­cured for pro­cess­ing.

Mean­while, po­lice con­duct­ed Op­er­a­tion Res­olute Shield in the Long­denville Po­lice Dis­trict be­tween 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Dur­ing the op­er­a­tion, sev­er­al peo­ple were stopped and searched. A 25-year-old man of Gail Trace, Palmiste, Long­denville, was ar­rest­ed on an out­stand­ing war­rant.

In a sep­a­rate in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an op­er­a­tion in the Cou­va Polic­ing Dis­trict and sur­round­ing ar­eas be­tween 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. un­der Op­er­a­tion Watch­tow­er 2026.

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) said the op­er­a­tion was in­tend­ed to re­store pub­lic or­der, sup­press vi­o­lent crime, dis­rupt gang ac­tiv­i­ty and en­hance pub­lic safe­ty.

The ex­er­cise formed part of the po­lice ser­vice's op­er­a­tional and strate­gic plans for 2025-2026.

Po­lice al­so ar­rest­ed a 28-year-old man of De­mer­ara Road, Ari­ma, in con­nec­tion with a re­port of lar­ce­ny from the per­son made on Wednes­day.

The Cou­va op­er­a­tion was co­or­di­nat­ed by Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Bhag­wan­deen, Su­per­in­ten­dent Glodon, As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent of Po­lice Har­riper­sad, Act­ing In­spec­tor Ram­per­sad and Sergeant Ram­di­al.

It was su­per­vised by Cor­po­ral Moti­ram, along with of­fi­cers at­tached to the Cou­va CID.

The TTPS said the op­er­a­tions form part of on­go­ing ef­forts to ad­dress crime and main­tain pub­lic safe­ty across Cen­tral Di­vi­sion.
