Neil Ramsingh has resigned as Chief Executive Officer of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), with the bank advertising the position hours after his departure.

In a statement, Ramsingh said his resignation would not affect his commitment to the country’s development agenda.

“I also want to place on record that my resignation does not change my commitment to the national development agenda. I remain fully supportive of the Government and our Honourable Prime Minister, and I will continue to support the work being done in the best interest of our country,” he said.

It comes as there was growing scrutiny over his previous employment.

Guardian Media also confirmed that Ramsingh was terminated by Guardian Life of the Caribbean Limited in April.

A public notice placed by Guardian Life said Ramsingh “is no longer a representative of Guardian Life of the Caribbean Limited and is not authorised to transact any business on behalf of the company.”

Ramsingh also sought the UNC’s nomination for the Fyzabad constituency ahead of the 2025 General Election. In January 2025, he was screened at the party’s headquarters in Chaguanas as a prospective candidate for the constituency.

Hours after Ramsingh’s resignation, the ADB advertised its CEO position on its website.

The post, which expires on September 14, seeks a candidate to coordinate the operations of the bank in accordance with policies approved by its board.

The successful applicant must have a postgraduate qualification in economics, finance or marketing, at least eight years of senior executive experience and highly developed skills in strategic leadership and financial and credit management.

The position is full-time and contractual, with the salary listed as confidential.

Ramsingh did not provide a reason for his sudden departure.

In May, Ramsingh was appointed CEO of the State-owned agricultural bank, which falls under the purview of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
