Four people are in police custody after officers seized two high-powered weapons, ammunition and other items during an operation in Tobago.

The joint police and military operation took place around 12.35am on Monday in the Signal Hill/Patience Hill area.

In a video released on Monday, Assistant Superintendent Mahalia Bacchus said officers recovered a Mac-10 and a Kel-Tec submachine gun, along with a quantity of ammunition, several cellphones and camouflage clothing.

Flanked by Inspector Andy Mohammed of the CID and PC Antoine of the Tobago Divisional Task Force, Bacchus confirmed four suspects are in police custody as investigations continue.

She urged the public to continue supporting the police by sharing information to help identify and arrest those involved in criminal activity.

Bacchus said Operation Resolute Shield remains in effect, with officers continuing ground suppression exercises aimed at dismantling illegal activities.
