Three people were robbed when they stopped on the Beetham Highway to inspect damages to their vehicle after a minor accident on Friday night.
Police said the trio – all from Chaguanas – were travelling in a Ford Ranger on the eastbound lane of the Beetham Highway, at around 10.20 pm when they felt another vehicle come into contact with their rear of their van.
A man in a gold Nissan Almera then drove alongside their vehicle and demanded they pull aside.
The driver of the van drove to the shoulder of the highway near 24th Street, Beetham Gardens, when they were approached by the driver of the Almera who demanded money immediately for damages to his car.
The man then reportedly called for others from nearby houses, as two bandits walked out and began beating the trio.
The bandits stole $800 in cash, a gold chain, good ring and cellphone before being ordered back into their van.
A report was made and officers of the Besson Street CID are continuing enquiries.
