Burnt skeletal remains found in Bon Air

Po­lice are work­ing to con­firm the iden­ti­ty of burnt skele­tal re­mains dis­cov­ered off a track in Bon Air on Sun­day af­ter­noon.

Of­fi­cers of the North-Cen­tral Di­vi­sion re­spond­ed to a call for as­sis­tance from vol­un­teers of the Hunters Search and Res­cue Team in the vicin­i­ty of Zir­con Cir­cu­lar.

They were led about a quar­ter mile off the road on­to a dirt track, where the re­mains were found in a drainage area.

A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer vis­it­ed the scene and or­dered that the re­mains be tak­en to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, Long Cir­cu­lar, for fur­ther analy­sis.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said the skull, parts of the arms be­low the el­bow and parts of the legs be­low the knee were not found.

Of­fi­cers of the Re­gion II Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
