Bailey appointed acting High Court judge in Grenada

With near­ly two decades of le­gal ex­pe­ri­ence, Trinidad and To­ba­go’s Ria Bai­ley has been ap­point­ed to act as a High Court Judge of the East­ern Caribbean Supreme Court, sit­ting in Grena­da from April 12.

Ac­cord­ing to a state­ment, Bai­ley pre­vi­ous­ly served as As­sis­tant Reg­is­trar and Deputy Mar­shal of the Supreme Court of Trinidad and To­ba­go, where she per­formed ad­ju­dica­tive and ad­min­is­tra­tive func­tions in sup­port of the High Court.

She al­so held the po­si­tion of Mag­is­tra­cy Reg­is­trar and Clerk of Court, over­see­ing court op­er­a­tions and the ad­min­is­tra­tion of crim­i­nal court process­es.

Bai­ley prac­tised pri­vate­ly for ap­prox­i­mate­ly 15 years in civ­il and fam­i­ly lit­i­ga­tion, es­tate ad­min­is­tra­tion, con­veyanc­ing and ad­vi­so­ry work.

Her pub­lic ser­vice in­cludes roles as Se­nior Le­gal Of­fi­cer in the Par­lia­ment of Trinidad and To­ba­go, di­rec­tor of a State board, and Trea­sur­er and Com­mit­tee Mem­ber of the As­sem­bly of South­ern Lawyers.

She al­so served as an as­so­ciate tu­tor at the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies Open Cam­pus and is a past stu­dent of Holy Faith Con­vent, Pe­nal.
