13 more detention orders issued

Thir­teen more de­ten­tion or­ders have been is­sued un­der reg­u­la­tion 14 of the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions, 2026, in­clud­ing one for a de­tainee who as­sist­ed a cor­rupt mem­ber of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice in in­ter­fer­ing with ev­i­dence linked to a transna­tion­al or­gan­ised crime group.

The or­ders were is­sued by Min­is­ter of Home­land Se­cu­ri­ty Roger Alexan­der be­tween March 18 and April 13, 2026, au­tho­ris­ing the pre­ven­tive de­ten­tion of in­di­vid­u­als on grounds of pub­lic safe­ty con­cerns.

Among the cas­es, Bevon “B-Man” Leza­ma was al­leged to have as­sist­ed a cor­rupt mem­ber of the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice in in­ter­fer­ing with ex­hibits of ev­i­den­tial val­ue linked to a transna­tion­al or­gan­ised crime group from a se­cure po­lice in­stal­la­tion.

The re­main­ing de­tainees named in the or­ders are Reace Ra­moutar, Shane “Big Shane” Red­head, Is­rael Julien Boodram­s­ingh, Joshua Fran­cis, Kevon “Fat Joe” Franklyn, Shane See­tal, Ker­ton “Throat” Ed­wards, Aki­do “Sun­day” Williams, Chris­ton “Grim­my” Greaves, Kashif Weekes, Akeem “Keem” Wor­rell and Ola Nurse.

The de­ten­tion or­ders cite al­leged in­volve­ment in or­gan­ised crim­i­nal groups by the de­tainees with­in the de­f­i­n­i­tion of the An­ti-Gang Act, 2021. They are ac­cused of pos­ses­sion and traf­fick­ing of firearms and am­mu­ni­tion, nar­cotics traf­fick­ing, armed rob­beries, shoot­ings, kid­nap­pings, wit­ness in­tim­i­da­tion, and planned re­tal­ia­to­ry vi­o­lence linked to ri­val gang ac­tiv­i­ty.

Sev­er­al of the de­tainees are de­scribed as oc­cu­py­ing lead­er­ship or op­er­a­tional roles with­in or­gan­ised crim­i­nal net­works op­er­at­ing across ar­eas, in­clud­ing Beetham Gar­dens, Laven­tille, East Dry Riv­er, Ch­agua­nas, Cou­va, San­gre Grande and sur­round­ing dis­tricts.

The or­ders fur­ther state that in­tel­li­gence and in­ves­tiga­tive ma­te­r­i­al in­di­cate plans for im­mi­nent vi­o­lent ac­tiv­i­ty, in­clud­ing co­or­di­nat­ed shoot­ings in pub­lic spaces and armed home in­va­sions, with de­ten­tion deemed nec­es­sary to pre­vent acts prej­u­di­cial to pub­lic safe­ty.
