Ammunition seized during Port of Spain operation

Po­lice seized 12 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing an op­er­a­tion in Port of Spain on Tues­day.

The am­mu­ni­tion was found around 11:30 a.m. when of­fi­cers of the In­ter-Agency Task Force (IATF), con­duct­ing ex­er­cis­es un­der Op­er­a­tion R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. Shield 2026, searched a wood­en struc­ture near a car park along Low­er Dun­can Street.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, PC Ramgu­lam dis­cov­ered a black plas­tic bag con­tain­ing 12 brass-coloured cylin­dri­cal met­al ob­jects re­sem­bling 7.62mm am­mu­ni­tion.

The op­er­a­tion al­so in­clud­ed foot pa­trols in Bev­er­ly Hills and sur­round­ing ar­eas, dur­ing which 17 peo­ple and sev­en ve­hi­cles were searched.

Po­lice al­so is­sued fixed penal­ty no­tices for sev­er­al traf­fic of­fences, in­clud­ing us­ing a hand­held mo­bile de­vice while dri­ving, dri­ving with­out a valid cer­tifi­cate of in­sur­ance and five of­fences for dri­ving with­out wear­ing a seat­belt.

The op­er­a­tion was spear­head­ed by ACP Hazel, Snr Supt Ram­nar­ine, Supt Ram­sook and ASP Singh, and co­or­di­nat­ed by In­sp Steele.
