Two detained after Marabella bar robbery

Two men have been de­tained and a firearm and cut­lass seized fol­low­ing an at­tempt­ed rob­bery at a bar in Mara­bel­la ear­ly Fri­day morn­ing.

Ac­cord­ing to the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice, the in­ci­dent oc­curred around 12:29 a.m. on Oc­to­ber 3rd at a bar along Union Road.

Po­lice said the pro­pri­etor was con­duct­ing busi­ness when two men en­tered the es­tab­lish­ment and an­nounced a rob­bery.

The men al­leged­ly or­dered pa­trons to lie on the floor, while one of the sus­pects point­ed what ap­peared to be a firearm at the pro­pri­etor and at­tempt­ed to gain ac­cess to an area of the bar.

How­ev­er, the gate was se­cured, pre­vent­ing the men from en­ter­ing.

The sus­pects sub­se­quent­ly left the es­tab­lish­ment with­out tak­ing any­thing of val­ue.

A Mara­bel­la po­lice pa­trol, in­clud­ing Po­lice Con­sta­bles Ram­nath and Adams, lat­er de­tained two men in the vicin­i­ty.

The men, aged 18 and 20, were de­tained in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent.

Po­lice said a re­volver con­tain­ing three rounds of .38 Spe­cial am­mu­ni­tion and a cut­lass were re­cov­ered.
