395 SOE detainees released after revocation orders

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Prison Ser­vice says 395 peo­ple de­tained un­der pub­lic de­ten­tion or­ders (PDOs) dur­ing the state of emer­gency have been re­leased fol­low­ing the ex­e­cu­tion of re­vo­ca­tion or­ders.

The state of emer­gency end­ed yes­ter­day.

In a state­ment is­sued by the Of­fice of the Com­mis­sion­er of Pris­ons, the ser­vice said 569 re­vo­ca­tion or­ders had been ex­e­cut­ed as at Sep­tem­ber 17.

Of those, 395 peo­ple had been re­leased, while 174 re­mained in cus­tody on oth­er mat­ters.

The Prison Ser­vice said it re­mains com­mit­ted to pro­cess­ing all le­gal di­rec­tives ef­fi­cient­ly, ad­her­ing to con­sti­tu­tion­al pro­to­cols and en­sur­ing safe­ty and pub­lic se­cu­ri­ty through­out the fa­cil­i­ty man­age­ment process.
