Man, 62, killed in second Morvant shooting

A 62-year-old man was shot and killed in Mor­vant on Tues­day night, the sec­ond shoot­ing in the area in as many days.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to re­ports of gun­shots in Sec­ond Cale­do­nia around 10.30 p.m. and found Steve Grif­fith’s body in a track.

A Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer was called and pro­nounced Grif­fith dead at the scene.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors found three live rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion, four spent 5.56 shell cas­ings and four spent 9mm shell cas­ings.

The killing came a day af­ter 22-year-old Ty­lan Hink­son of Red­wood Street, Mor­vant, was shot dead near Sec­ond Cale­do­nia Road, in the vicin­i­ty of Ju­man.

Hink­son was found on the road­way with mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds.

Of­fi­cers of the Re­gion II Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to both killings.
