Woman beaten; licensed pistol stolen in Tunapuna

A 55-year-old woman was over­pow­ered by ban­dits and pis­tol-whipped with her own pis­tol at her Tu­na­puna home on Wednes­day night.

Po­lice said the woman ar­rived at her Tu­na­puna Road, home at around 11 pm and was walk­ing up the stair­case when she no­ticed two men walk­ing be­hind her.

She reached for her li­censed Glock 43 pis­tol in her hand­bag and fired a shot in the di­rec­tion of the men but missed.

The woman was then re­port­ed­ly over­pow­ered by the at­tack­ers who grabbed the pis­tol from her and pis­tol-whipped her be­fore snatch­ing her hand­bag which con­tained her cell­phone, bank cards and $250 in cash be­fore run­ning away with the hand­bag and pis­tol.

Po­lice said the gun con­tained a mag­a­zine with 13 rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion.

Tu­na­puna po­lice were called in and are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
