Tragedy has struck the farming community of Claxton Bay, after a farmer was found dead beneath his tractor on Wednesday.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 52-year-old Vijay Harripersad, whose body was discovered by his son along a track in their garden at Alarack Trace, Forres Park. Police believe he was crushed by the tractor.
Officers responded to the scene at around 4.30 pm and found Harripersad unresponsive in his garden, approximately 180 feet from the roadway. A District Medical Officer pronounced him dead and ordered that his body be taken to the Forensic Science Centre for a post-mortem examination.
When Guardian Media visited Harripersad’s family home, his parents declined to comment, saying they were awaiting further information from police.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted this week. Officers from St Margaret’s Police Station are continuing investigations.
