Thousands of customers across North, Central and South Trinidad are expected to experience interruptions to their pipe-borne water supply today as the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) carries out urgent maintenance at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant.
In a media release, WASA said the temporary disruption is necessary to facilitate the installation of new band screens and other essential maintenance works at the plant's Raw Water Station.
The authority said some areas may also experience low water pressure while the works are underway, adding that the upgrades are intended to improve the long-term efficiency and reliability of the treatment facility.
Among the affected communities are parts of St. Joseph, Valsayn, Tunapuna, Curepe, Barataria, Morvant, Port of Spain, St. Ann's, Cascade, St. James, Cocorite, Belmont, Piarco, Cunupia, Chaguanas, Lange Park, Carapichaima, Longdenville, Couva, Claxton Bay, California, Waterloo, San Fernando, La Romaine, Penal, Siparia, Fyzabad and Esperanza.
WASA said full service will be restored in the shortest possible time and thanked customers for their patience while the work is completed.
Customers seeking additional information can contact the authority's Customer Call Centre at 800-4420 or 800-4426.
