Three arrested after 35 cannabis trees seized in Tobago

Three men have been ar­rest­ed af­ter po­lice seized 35 cannabis trees dur­ing an in­tel­li­gence-led an­ti-crime op­er­a­tion in To­ba­go on Mon­day.

Ac­cord­ing to the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice, of­fi­cers at­tached to the To­ba­go Di­vi­sion­al Task Force con­duct­ed the ex­er­cise un­der Op­er­a­tion R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. Shield be­tween 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the Scar­bor­ough dis­trict.

Act­ing on in­tel­li­gence re­ceived un­der the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions, 2026, of­fi­cers went to Friends Field Trace, Calder Hall, Scar­bor­ough, where they dis­cov­ered and seized the cannabis trees.

Po­lice said three sus­pects were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find. They are a 36-year-old elec­tri­cian of Pump­mill, Scar­bor­ough, a 28-year-old of­fice as­sis­tant, and a 41-year-old self-em­ployed man, both of Friends Field Trace, Calder Hall, Scar­bor­ough. All three were ar­rest­ed on sus­pi­cion of pos­ses­sion of cannabis.

The op­er­a­tion formed part of the TTPS' on­go­ing ef­forts to tar­get il­le­gal drug cul­ti­va­tion and traf­fick­ing across the coun­try through in­tel­li­gence-dri­ven polic­ing ini­tia­tives.

The ex­er­cise was spear­head­ed by As­sis­tant Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Singh and co­or­di­nat­ed by Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Kirk. It was led by As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent Bac­chus, In­spec­tor Mo­hammed, Woman Act­ing Sergeant Gor­don-Har­ris and Sergeant Her­nan­dez, with su­per­vi­sion pro­vid­ed by Woman Cor­po­ral Al­fred.

Of­fi­cers from Task Force Area West car­ried out the op­er­a­tion with as­sis­tance from per­son­nel at­tached to Task Force Area North and the Scar­bor­ough Po­lice Sta­tion.

The TTPS said Op­er­a­tion R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. Shield con­tin­ues to fo­cus on dis­rupt­ing crim­i­nal ac­tiv­i­ty through co­or­di­nat­ed en­force­ment ex­er­cis­es and in­tel­li­gence gath­er­ing.

Po­lice did not in­di­cate whether charges had been laid against the three men up to the time of the me­dia re­lease. In­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the mat­ter are con­tin­u­ing.
