Silver Stars members arrested after alleged clash with TTPS officers at TRIBE band launch

Con­fir­ma­tion the TTPS brawled with Sil­ver Stars pan mem­bers af­ter TRIBE's band launch around 2:00 on Sun­day morn­ing. The pan side had been hired to close the fes­tiv­i­ties.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands the pan side was ap­proached by plain-clothes of­fi­cers, who told them to stop play­ing. The sit­u­a­tion es­ca­lat­ed when one of the of­fi­cers al­leged­ly grabbed the sticks from a drum­mer and threw down the drums, lead­ing to a scuf­fle.

The in­ci­dent re­port­ed­ly un­fold­ed in the North Stand, next to the VIP area where sev­er­al Gov­ern­ment min­is­ters, in­clud­ing Bar­ry Padarath, Anil Roberts and Chief Sec­re­tary Far­ley Au­gus­tine, had been in at­ten­dance. It is un­der­stood that they had all left by the time the al­ter­ca­tion took place.

Videos cir­cu­lat­ing on so­cial me­dia ap­pear to show the con­fronta­tion, with pans and stands strewn across the North Stand and some mem­bers be­com­ing trapped un­der­neath.

An un­known num­ber of Sil­ver Stars mem­bers were ar­rest­ed, and one per­son was hos­pi­talised.

So far, nei­ther TRIBE nor the TTPS has com­ment­ed on the is­sue.
