Man found bound and dead after Massy warehouse break-in

The pub­lic has been ad­vised that the Massy Stores branch on French Street, Wood­brook, will open from noon to­day fol­low­ing a re­port­ed break-in at the com­pa­ny’s ware­house and the dis­cov­ery of a body in a va­cant lot near­by.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, of­fi­cers at­tached to Al­lied Se­cu­ri­ty were alert­ed around 2:49 a.m. that sev­er­al sus­pects had bro­ken in­to the Massy Stores ware­house.

When po­lice re­spond­ed, they found a hole in the ware­house’s north­ern wall. Pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­di­cate the sus­pects gained ac­cess through an aban­doned prop­er­ty on Robert Street, Wood­brook.

Of­fi­cers lat­er found sev­er­al box­es con­tain­ing bot­tles of wine scat­tered across the aban­doned com­pound. While search­ing the area, they dis­cov­ered the body of an East In­di­an man be­neath an open makeshift wood­en struc­ture.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied as Pe­ter Seemu­n­gal.

Res­i­dents told po­lice that Seemu­n­gal was home­less and had been stay­ing at the aban­doned prop­er­ty.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors found that Seemu­n­gal’s hands had been tied be­hind his back and his feet were bound. A black jer­sey was wrapped around his neck, and po­lice be­lieve he was stran­gled, as there were no vis­i­ble gun­shot or stab wounds on the body.

Massy Stores Man­ag­er Na­tal­ie Owen was no­ti­fied of the break-in and said a com­pre­hen­sive in­ven­to­ry would be con­duct­ed to de­ter­mine what items, if any, were stolen.
