A man identified as Johann Harry, also known as 'Jesus', from Casselton Avenue, Trincity, has been detained under a Preventive Detention Order for allegedly disseminating hate speech against Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Indo-Trinidadians and Hindus, among others, on social media.

The content is being considered as prejudicial to public safety.

According to the detention order published late yesterday, Harry's social media content was directed at Indo-Trinidadians, persons of East Indian descent, Hindus, supporters of the Government, public officials, and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.

The material is said to include statements containing racial and religious hostility, including content promoting contempt towards Hindu religious beliefs, as well as material considered likely to inflame racial, religious, and political tensions.

" The detainee has further published statements containing threats or encouragement of physical violence against persons expressing views perceived by him to be hostile to black persons," the detention order states.

Intelligence assessments indicate that Harry operates or has access to multiple social media platforms and has the ability to rapidly disseminate inflammatory content to a substantial audience.

Authorities believe this presents an increased risk of public disorder, retaliatory conduct, racial and religious hostility, and threats to public safety.

Officials further stated that his continued liberty presents a real and continuing risk that he could further disseminate material likely to prejudice public safety during the current State of Public Emergency.

As a result, the Preventive Detention Order was deemed necessary to prevent him from acting in a manner prejudicial to public safety, according to the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2026.
