Cops seek PDOs for 11 held in Gasparillo anti-crime operations

Pre­ven­ta­tive De­ten­tion Or­ders (PDOs) are be­ing sought for some 11 per­sons ar­rest­ed dur­ing an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions that were car­ried out in Gas­par­il­lo be­tween June 6th and 15th, 2026, the Po­lice Ser­vice has con­firmed.

Ac­cord­ing to an of­fi­cial state­ment, the op­er­a­tion was con­duct­ed “to curb and de­tect the in­crease in home in­va­sions, rob­beries, firearm re­lat­ed of­fences, break­ings and drug re­lat­ed of­fences in the [Gas­par­il­lo] dis­trict.”

The TTPS says sub­stan­tial ef­forts were made to ap­pre­hend of­fend­ers re­spon­si­ble for the crimes com­mit­ted.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed 11 male sus­pects, ages 16 to 34 years. The sus­pects were said to be from Gas­par­il­lo, Gol­con­da, Point Fortin and Williamsville.

The TTPS says ap­pli­ca­tions for the PDOs were made af­ter “in­ten­sive and in-depth in­ves­ti­ga­tions”. Thus far, eight have been grant­ed, while three are still pend­ing.

The po­lice op­er­a­tion was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr. Supt. Si­mon, Supt. Bertie, W/Supt. Bridglal, spear­head­ed by ASPs Ram­saran, Pacheco, Chul­han and Rag­bir and su­per­vised by In­sp. (Ag.) Alexan­der.

Al­so in­volved were of­fi­cers of Gas­par­il­lo Po­lice Sta­tion and the South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force.
