A 59-year-old security officer was kidnapped, assaulted and left unconscious along a roadway in Siparia early Saturday morning.

Police said the victim reported that around 5:20 am on May 2, he was driving his black Nissan Note along Sincline Road, Santa Flora, when a dark-coloured vehicle travelling in the opposite direction veered into his lane. The impact caused the right wing mirrors of both vehicles to collide.

He told officers he stopped his vehicle and was about to exit when two men approached him and began arguing. The suspects then forced him into the back seat of his vehicle. One man entered the driver’s seat and drove off, while the other remained in the back with him.

During the ordeal, the victim said he was choked and lost consciousness.

He later awoke on Quinam Beach Road, Siparia, where he found his vehicle abandoned nearby with extensive damage.

Police officers from the Siparia Criminal Investigations Department visited the scene, interviewed residents and conducted checks for CCTV footage, but none was obtained.

The vehicle was taken to the Siparia Police Station and processed by crime scene investigators, however no usable fingerprints were recovered.

The victim was taken to a health facility for treatment and later transferred to the Point Fortin Hospital for further tests.

Investigations are ongoing.
