A man in his early 20s, believed to be a street dweller, was shot dead on a staircase in Belmont on Sunday night.
Police said residents of Serraneau Road reported hearing a voice saying, “Look he here,” followed by gunshots.
They later found the man’s body. His identity remained unconfirmed up to Monday morning.
Officers of the Port of Spain Task Force, who were on patrol, responded and found the body at the scene.
Crime Scene Investigators also visited and recovered eight spent .40 calibre shells, three spent 9 mm shells and one spent .45 calibre shell.
Officers of the Region I Homicide Bureau are continuing enquiries.
