Two held after assault with intent to rob in San Juan

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing an as­sault with in­tent to rob re­port­ed on Tues­day along the East­ern Main Road, San Juan.

Around 10 am, a 64-year-old re­tiree was on the com­pound of JR Tech TT near Caribbean Glass Spe­cial­ists Lim­it­ed when three male sus­pects ap­proached.

Re­ports state the vic­tim was on a lad­der paint­ing a gate when he was ap­proached from be­hind, grabbed and pulled to the ground. The sus­pects as­sault­ed him and at­tempt­ed to take a gold chain from his neck.

Work­ers in the area in­ter­vened. The sus­pects left the scene on foot head­ing east.

Of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Cap­i­tal City Pa­trol Unit re­spond­ed and de­tained two sus­pects along the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route, San Juan.

Po­lice iden­ti­fied them as a 16-year-old male of Sealots and a 20-year-old male of Sealots. Both re­main in cus­tody as­sist­ing of­fi­cers.

A third sus­pect is be­ing sought. Po­lice de­scribe him as a male of African de­scent, slim build, about 5 feet 6 inch­es tall, with a brown com­plex­ion.

The vic­tim re­ceived in­juries and was treat­ed.

Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tors are ex­pect­ed to process the scene. Of­fi­cers are al­so seek­ing CCTV footage.

Po­lice are ask­ing any­one with in­for­ma­tion to con­tact the San Juan Po­lice Sta­tion or Crime Stop­pers at 800-TIPS.
