Traffic light timing at Dock Road near the Hyatt Regency along the westbound lane of Wrightson Road is being blamed for major traffic congestion during peak hours.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said it had been made aware that the timing of the traffic lights was disrupting the normal flow of traffic in the area.

According to the TTPS, traffic engineers from the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation are working to address the problem.

Motorists have been urged to exercise patience and follow the instructions of traffic wardens and police officers stationed at intersections.

The congestion is the second major traffic disruption to affect commuters in the area in two weeks.

Last week, motorists were left stuck in hours of traffic following four separate accidents, creating significant delays along major roadways.

The latest disruption has again resulted in lengthy travel times during peak hours, prompting authorities to intervene to ease the flow of traffic.

The TTPS is advising motorists to exercise caution and cooperate with officers and traffic wardens as efforts continue to resolve the traffic light issue.
