Police officers arrested three people and seized a quantity of cannabis during a series of intelligence-led operations across the Northern North Division on Sunday.
The primary sweep, conducted under State of Emergency (SOE) protocols, targeted multiple locations including Cinnamon Crescent in Santa Rosa and Moonlighting Drive in Wallerfield. The operation culminated at Kingdom Avenue in Maturita, where law enforcement searched a mini-mart and an adjoining residence.
During the search, officers discovered approximately 105 grams of cannabis hidden inside a wardrobe. A 43-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and cautioned for cannabis possession. She was subsequently taken to the Pinto Police Post along with the seized drugs.
In an unrelated incident during the same Sunday afternoon exercise, officers from the Northern North Task Force clamped down on a disruption near Hoyte Avenue in Maturita. A man was arrested there for disorderly behaviour and using obscene language.
Superintendent McKenzie and Assistant Superintendent Balewa spearheaded the division-wide dragnet. The targeted exercises were coordinated by Sergeant Trancoso and Acting Sergeant Forgenie, with direct supervision provided by Acting Corporal Dedier. The operations utilized a combined force from the Pinto Police Post, Northern North CID, the Northern Division Task Force, and the TTPS Canine Unit.
Meanwhile, in an entirely separate development, a 37-year-old Claxton Bay man faces criminal charges following an altercation on Thursday night along Boukal Trace in Forres Park.
Following intense investigations into the Thursday incident, the suspect was officially charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to appear before a San Fernando magistrate on Monday to answer to the charges.
