Thieves make off with over $6,000 in groceries left in parked vehicle

Ban­dits stole more than $6,000 worth of food items from a de­liv­ery truck parked out­side One Wood­brook Place, Wood­brook, on Tues­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the dri­ver parked the Mit­subishi Fu­so five-tonne truck in the load­ing bay near the res­i­den­tial guard booth be­fore leav­ing to con­duct busi­ness. He re­port­ed­ly se­cured the truck with a pad­lock be­fore leav­ing, al­though it was lat­er dis­cov­ered to have been bro­ken.

When the dri­ver re­turned short­ly be­fore 1 pm, he found sev­er­al items miss­ing, in­clud­ing two box­es of Chilean salmon, two box­es of pot stick­ers, six box­es of black chai spiced tea, eight box­es of fet­tuc­cine pas­ta and ten box­es of basa fish fil­lets.

A re­port was made to the St James Po­lice Sta­tion.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries in­to the theft.
