Judge orders CoP to clarify Hadeeds’ detention

High Court judge Frank Seep­er­sad has or­dered Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice, Al­lis­ter Gue­var­ro, to make it clear whether busi­ness­man Do­minic Hadeed and his wife, Genevieve Hadeed, are be­ing held un­der a Pre­ven­tive De­ten­tion Or­der (PDO).

It comes af­ter an ur­gent habeas cor­pus ap­pli­ca­tion chal­lenged the on­go­ing de­ten­tions.

The ap­pli­ca­tion was filed by for­mer at­tor­ney gen­er­al and cur­rent PNM sen­a­tor, Faris al-Rawi.

The mat­ter has been set for Mon­day morn­ing at 9am at a vir­tu­al hear­ing.

The af­fi­davit by al-Rawi says that the cou­ple has been in cus­tody since June 24 and have not been charged.
