A 37-year-old St James man has been charged with the murder of 49-year-old Mirissia Weekes, who died at the Port of Spain General Hospital after allegedly being shot.
Christopher Trancoso, also known as “Manny”, of Dundonald Hill, appeared before Master Indira Chinebas on Wednesday and was charged with the offence.
Weekes, of St James, was admitted to the Port of Spain General Hospital on August 28, allegedly suffering from gunshot wounds. She died at the hospital later that day.
A male suspect was arrested in connection with the killing on August 28 by officers of the Western Division Task Force.
Trancoso was charged on Tuesday following advice from Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Anju Bhola on Monday.
The investigation was supervised by officers attached to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region One, along with other agencies.
Trancoso also faces charges of common assault, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
The matter is scheduled to be heard on December 14, 2026.
