St James man charged with murder of Mirissia Weekes

A 37-year-old St James man has been charged with the mur­der of 49-year-old Miris­sia Weekes, who died at the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal af­ter al­leged­ly be­ing shot.

Christo­pher Tran­coso, al­so known as “Man­ny”, of Dun­don­ald Hill, ap­peared be­fore Mas­ter In­di­ra Chinebas on Wednes­day and was charged with the of­fence.

Weekes, of St James, was ad­mit­ted to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal on Au­gust 28, al­leged­ly suf­fer­ing from gun­shot wounds. She died at the hos­pi­tal lat­er that day.

A male sus­pect was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the killing on Au­gust 28 by of­fi­cers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force.

Tran­coso was charged on Tues­day fol­low­ing ad­vice from As­sis­tant Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions An­ju Bho­la on Mon­day.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion was su­per­vised by of­fi­cers at­tached to the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Re­gion One, along with oth­er agen­cies.

Tran­coso al­so faces charges of com­mon as­sault, pos­ses­sion of a firearm and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion.

The mat­ter is sched­uled to be heard on De­cem­ber 14, 2026.
