Prime Minister: Nelson Island to be renamed

Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar says Nel­son Is­land will be re­named.

As she toured Nel­son Is­land this morn­ing with the In­di­an Min­is­ter of Ex­ter­nal Af­fairs, Per­sad-Bisses­sar an­nounced the es­tab­lish­ment of a com­mit­tee head­ed by per­ma­nent sec­re­tary in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter Natasha Bar­row, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Na­tion­al Trust of Trinidad and To­ba­go, to over­see the process.

She said pub­lic con­sul­ta­tions will take place with cit­i­zens al­lowed to pro­pose names.
