Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) recovered two stolen vehicles during a coordinated anti-crime exercise in the Sangre Grande District last Friday.

The operation, dubbed Operation Steady Guard, was carried out between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and involved personnel from the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Emergency and Disaster Task Force (EDTF).

Acting on intelligence, officers proceeded to Turure Road in the Guaico area to investigate a white Kia K2700 that had been reported stolen earlier that day in Arima. During the exercise, officers also discovered a silver-grey Honda City parked along a bushy track off Turure Main Road. Checks confirmed that the Honda had been reported stolen in the Western Division earlier that morning.

Further searches led to the recovery of the Kia K2700 near an abandoned quarry. In addition, officers found a red Hyundai Elantra hatchback that had been stripped, with its chassis number removed.

Crime Scene Investigators processed the recovered vehicles, though no workable fingerprints were obtained. The vehicles were later transported to the Sangre Grande Police Station for safekeeping as investigations continue.

The TTPS emphasized its ongoing commitment to recovering stolen vehicles and disrupting criminal activity. In a statement, the service underscored its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of communities across Trinidad and Tobago.

Operation Steady Guard reflects the police service’s strategy of combining intelligence-led policing with coordinated field exercises. By targeting areas known for illicit activity, officers aim to reduce the prevalence of vehicle theft and dismantle networks involved in stripping and reselling stolen cars.

The recovery of multiple vehicles in a single day highlights the effectiveness of joint operations between specialized units. Authorities continue to encourage citizens to report suspicious activity, stressing that community cooperation remains vital in the fight against crime.
