Moruga man falls to death

A Moru­ga fam­i­ly is in mourn­ing fol­low­ing the trag­ic death of 58-year-old Ral­phie Kadill, who fell ap­prox­i­mate­ly 12 feet off a precipice near his home along Harp­er Trace, St Mary’s Vil­lage, on Tues­day night.

Kadill’s niece, Ruth Kadill, said the fam­i­ly be­lieves he may have fall­en asleep while re­lax­ing on a re­tain­ing wall and rolled over the edge. She re­called that ear­li­er in the evening, she and Kadill’s 17-year-old daugh­ter were sit­ting with him on the wall.

Ruth said Kadill may have been in­tox­i­cat­ed at the time. She lat­er left them and went in­side, while his daugh­ter re­mained with him be­fore al­so go­ing in­doors.

Less than half an hour lat­er, the teenag­er re­turned out­side but did not see her fa­ther. A search was launched, and short­ly af­ter, Kadill was found at the bot­tom of the precipice just be­fore 8 pm. Ruth said blood and flu­id were com­ing from his nose. They at­tempt­ed CPR but de­tect­ed no pulse. An am­bu­lance was called, but due to un­cer­tain­ty about its ar­rival time, they de­cid­ed to take him to the Princes Town Health Fa­cil­i­ty.

While be­ing guid­ed by a para­medic over the phone, Kadill was placed on a sheet and lift­ed up to the road­way. be­fore be­ing . He was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival at the halth fa­cil­i­ty.

An au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to be con­duct­ed at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre. Moru­ga po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the in­ci­dent.
