A Moruga family is in mourning following the tragic death of 58-year-old Ralphie Kadill, who fell approximately 12 feet off a precipice near his home along Harper Trace, St Mary’s Village, on Tuesday night.
Kadill’s niece, Ruth Kadill, said the family believes he may have fallen asleep while relaxing on a retaining wall and rolled over the edge. She recalled that earlier in the evening, she and Kadill’s 17-year-old daughter were sitting with him on the wall.
Ruth said Kadill may have been intoxicated at the time. She later left them and went inside, while his daughter remained with him before also going indoors.
Less than half an hour later, the teenager returned outside but did not see her father. A search was launched, and shortly after, Kadill was found at the bottom of the precipice just before 8 pm. Ruth said blood and fluid were coming from his nose. They attempted CPR but detected no pulse. An ambulance was called, but due to uncertainty about its arrival time, they decided to take him to the Princes Town Health Facility.
While being guided by a paramedic over the phone, Kadill was placed on a sheet and lifted up to the roadway. before being . He was pronounced dead on arrival at the halth facility.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre. Moruga police are continuing investigations into the incident.
