Caribbean Airlines carried 66,814 passengers between Trinidad and Tobago in July, as it increased flights on the domestic airbridge to meet higher demand during the peak summer travel season.

In a media release on Thursday, the airline said it introduced additional flights as part of its enhanced summer schedule, increasing seat capacity to accommodate the seasonal rise in passenger traffic.

The airline said the figures highlighted the importance of the domestic airbridge in maintaining connectivity between Trinidad and Tobago during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Varma Khillawan said the domestic airbridge remained a critical link for both islands.

“The domestic airbridge is a vital economic and social lifeline connecting the people of Trinidad and Tobago. Caribbean Airlines recognises its importance to the economy of Tobago, particularly during the peak summer travel season and we remain fully committed to providing a safe, reliable and dependable service for our customers,” Khillawan said.

According to the airline, the expanded flight schedule supported travel by families, business travellers, residents and visitors throughout July. The airline noted that maintaining a dependable domestic schedule remains a priority as demand fluctuates during the summer months.

The domestic airbridge is a key transportation link for residents, businesses and the tourism industry, with demand typically increasing during the July and August vacation period as families travel, visitors head to Tobago and businesses continue regular inter-island operations. Caribbean Airlines is the primary operator of scheduled domestic flights between the two islands.
