Man accuses of sacrilege denied bail

A 42-year-old man has been charged with sac­ri­lege fol­low­ing an al­leged break-in at a church in La Lune, Moru­ga.

Ac­cord­ing to the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice, of­fi­cers re­ceived in­for­ma­tion around 10:30 p.m. on Sep­tem­ber 27th that some­one had en­tered the La Lune Sev­enth-day Ad­ven­tist Church on La Lune Road.

Po­lice said sev­er­al items be­long­ing to the church, val­ued at ap­prox­i­mate­ly $4,386, were found on the com­pound.

The items in­clud­ed an in­dus­tri­al fan, four sets of cur­tains, 35 com­mu­nion glass­es, a case of bot­tled wa­ter, an elec­tric gui­tar and dec­o­ra­tive flow­ers.

Fol­low­ing en­quiries, the 42-year-old was ar­rest­ed and sub­se­quent­ly charged with sac­ri­lege.

The mat­ter came be­fore the San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trates’ Court on Oc­to­ber 1st. The ac­cused was not called up­on to plead and bail was de­nied.

The mat­ter was ad­journed to March 23rd, 2027, for a sta­tus hear­ing.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion was con­duct­ed un­der the guid­ance of Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Hospedales, Su­per­in­ten­dent Bertie, Woman Su­per­in­ten­dent Bridglal, As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent Chul­han and In­spec­tor Charles, and un­der the di­rect su­per­vi­sion of Act­ing Cor­po­ral Roop­nar­ine.
