Golden Carrier to replace Blue Wave Harmony on cargo seabridge

The M.V. Gold­en Car­ri­er will soon join Trinidad and To­ba­go’s in­ter is­land car­go seabridge, re­plac­ing the M.V. Blue Wave Har­mo­ny while the lat­ter un­der­goes sched­uled main­te­nance and up­grades, ac­cord­ing to the Na­tion­al In­fra­struc­ture De­vel­op­ment Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed (NID­CO).

NID­CO said the change will come at no ad­di­tion­al cost to the State as the sub­sti­tu­tion is be­ing made un­der the ex­ist­ing Char­ter Par­ty Agree­ment (CPA) signed on De­cem­ber 18, 2025.

The agree­ment was struc­tured as an ini­tial six month char­ter with the op­tion of a fur­ther six month ex­ten­sion. At the end of the ini­tial pe­ri­od, the ves­sel’s own­er opt­ed to sub­sti­tute the Blue Wave Har­mo­ny with the Gold­en Car­ri­er to fa­cil­i­tate main­te­nance works.

Ac­cord­ing to NID­CO, the char­ter hire will re­main un­changed and the in­tro­duc­tion of the Gold­en Car­ri­er will not in­crease op­er­a­tional costs.

The com­pa­ny said the Gold­en Car­ri­er of­fers car­go ca­pac­i­ty com­pa­ra­ble to that of the Blue Wave Har­mo­ny and sat­is­fies all spec­i­fi­ca­tions re­quired for the car­go seabridge. It has a slight­ly high­er car­go lane ca­pac­i­ty of 1,950 lane me­tres com­pared with 1,925 on the Blue Wave Har­mo­ny.

In ad­di­tion, it can ac­com­mo­date up to 399 pas­sen­gers, in­clud­ing crew, com­pared with 280 on the out­go­ing ves­sel. It al­so pro­vides ad­di­tion­al pas­sen­ger berths and ex­pand­ed on­board ameni­ties, in­clud­ing a larg­er restau­rant and bar area.

NID­CO said the Gold­en Car­ri­er will be­gin loaded sea tri­als on Sun­day, Ju­ly 26, to en­sure un­in­ter­rupt­ed car­go ser­vice.

The Port Au­thor­i­ty of Trinidad and To­ba­go is ex­pect­ed to an­nounce the com­mer­cial sail­ing sched­ule for the ves­sel.
