Morvant resident Frankie ‘Fishie’ Bartholomew critical after shooting

Mor­vant res­i­dent Frankie “Fishie” Bartholomew, who was shot by un­known as­sailants on Thurs­day night, re­mains in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion at hos­pi­tal.

Bartholomew, 44, was in­jured dur­ing an in­ci­dent on Ju­ly 23.

Re­ports in­di­cate the vic­tim, who is well known to po­lice, was stand­ing out­side his home at around 9 pm when gun­shots rang out.

As res­i­dents rushed out­side to in­ves­ti­gate, they found Bartholomew suf­fer­ing from gun­shot wounds to the chest, hands and legs.

He was rushed to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he was treat­ed and re­mains ward­ed.

Short­ly af­ter the shoot­ing, po­lice in­creased pa­trols in and around the hos­pi­tal, as well as across the cap­i­tal, as of­fi­cers moved to pre­vent pos­si­ble reprisal shoot­ings.

Se­nior TTPS of­fi­cials con­firmed the in­creased pa­trols and ap­pealed to the pub­lic to pro­vide any in­for­ma­tion that could as­sist in­ves­ti­ga­tors.

Bartholomew was shot hours af­ter Home­land Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Roger Alexan­der pub­licly iden­ti­fied him as one of sev­er­al in­di­vid­u­als al­leged­ly linked to es­ca­lat­ing gang con­flict in the Mor­vant dis­trict.
