Fire guts Dundonald Hill home

A house was de­stroyed by fire at Dun­don­ald Hill, Long Cir­cu­lar, St James, ear­ly Mon­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the fire was re­port­ed around 1:20 a.m. on Mon­day, Sep­tem­ber 14, af­ter a neigh­bour, Ayan­na In­niss, saw smoke com­ing from the res­i­dence and con­tact­ed the Fire Ser­vice.

When po­lice ar­rived, the con­crete struc­ture with a wood­en roof was ful­ly en­gulfed in flames.

The home was re­port­ed­ly oc­cu­pied by three adults, Dex­ter Lawrence, 64-year-old Al­li­son Daniel and 25-year-old Mar­ley Daniel.

Fire of­fi­cers ini­tial­ly en­coun­tered dif­fi­cul­ties reach­ing the prop­er­ty be­cause ve­hi­cles were parked along the road­way. Res­i­dents al­so re­port­ed that there was no pipe-borne wa­ter sup­ply in the area.

Fire­fight­ers even­tu­al­ly used wa­ter from a neigh­bour’s tank to ex­tin­guish the blaze.

Po­lice lat­er re­ceived in­for­ma­tion that Daniel had been seen walk­ing in St James. Her son was sub­se­quent­ly told by neigh­bours that she was safe and had spent the night in the area.

Fire of­fi­cers searched the de­bris and con­firmed that no hu­man re­mains were found.

Daniel lat­er con­tact­ed po­lice and con­firmed that she was in good health and stay­ing with her el­der son.
