28 car batteries stolen during Morvant gunpoint robbery

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the theft of 28 car bat­ter­ies from a man who was robbed at gun­point and forced to dri­ve to an­oth­er area on Mon­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the man was dri­ving his Nis­san Y12 AD Wag­on near the East­ern Main Road and Churchill-Roo­sevelt High­way Link Road, El So­cor­ro, around 1 pm when he en­coun­tered slow-mov­ing traf­fic.

While he wait­ed in traf­fic, a gun­man ap­proached the ve­hi­cle and opened the back­seat door, while an­oth­er ban­dit opened the front pas­sen­ger door.

The men or­dered the vic­tim to dri­ve to Har­mo­ny Lane, Sec­ond Cale­do­nia, Mor­vant.

Two oth­er ban­dits ap­proached the ve­hi­cle there and stole 28 car bat­ter­ies val­ued at $24,375, along with two cell­phones, a gold chain, a gold ring and $1,600 cash.

The vic­tim al­so re­port­ed that one of the ban­dits pis­tol-whipped him.

He sub­se­quent­ly made a re­port to po­lice, and of­fi­cers of the Mor­vant Po­lice Sta­tion are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
