According to the TTPS, the man was armed when officers found him and did not comply with instructions to drop the weapon. Police said he then confronted officers, who opened fire.

He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said a .22 calibre revolver loaded with three rounds of ammunition was found at the scene.
