Customers in parts of Central and South Trinidad can expect disruptions to their water supply when the Point Lisas Desalination Plant undergoes its annual planned maintenance shutdown.
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said the shutdown will take place from noon on Monday, September 28, to noon on Sunday, October 4.
The plant, operated by the Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago (DESALCOTT), supplies WASA with 40 million gallons of water daily. The supply supports the Point Lisas Industrial Estate and augments water supply to parts of Central and South-West Trinidad.
WASA said the shutdown is necessary to facilitate planned maintenance works at the facility.
During the shutdown, customers normally supplied or supported by production from the desalination plant can expect interruptions or changes to their regular water supply.
DESALCOTT has advised that delivery to WASA is expected to recommence from noon on Sunday, October 4, with full contracted delivery expected to be restored within 24 to 48 hours thereafter.
