CARICOM expresses solidarity with Venezuela following deadly earthquakes

The Caribbean Com­mu­ni­ty (CARI­COM) has ex­pressed con­do­lences fol­low­ing the dev­as­tat­ing earth­quakes that struck Venezuela on Wednes­day, leav­ing peo­ple dead and in­jured and caus­ing wide­spread dam­age to homes and in­fra­struc­ture.

In a state­ment is­sued to­day, CARI­COM said it stood in sol­i­dar­i­ty with the peo­ple of Venezuela dur­ing what it de­scribed as a time of im­mense grief.

"The Caribbean Com­mu­ni­ty (CARI­COM) ex­press­es deep con­do­lences over the trag­ic loss of life, the grow­ing num­ber of in­juries, and the ex­ten­sive dam­age to in­fra­struc­ture and homes as a re­sult of the dev­as­tat­ing earth­quakes that struck Venezuela on Wednes­day, 24 June, 2026," the state­ment said.

The re­gion­al body al­so of­fered prayers for a swift re­cov­ery to those who were in­jured and dis­placed by the dis­as­ter.

CARI­COM com­mend­ed emer­gency per­son­nel, first re­spon­ders and cit­i­zens work­ing un­der dif­fi­cult con­di­tions to res­cue sur­vivors and pro­vide as­sis­tance to af­fect­ed com­mu­ni­ties.

It al­so wished the peo­ple of Venezuela strength and re­silience as they be­gin the process of re­cov­ery and re­con­struc­tion.

"We stand in sol­i­dar­i­ty with the peo­ple of Venezuela dur­ing this time of im­mense grief and of­fer prayers for a swift re­cov­ery to the in­jured and dis­placed," the state­ment said.
