Days after the brutal murder of police corporal Anusha Eversley, at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station, Arima Mayor Balliram Maharaj said all Municipal Corporations should ensure their officers are safe.

Offering his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Corporal Eversley, Maharaj said: “A tragic loss of life and the brazen act of stealing arms and ammunition are matters of national concern, and all Corporations should ensure their officers are safe and secure.”

According to a press statement on Tuesday, Mayor Balliram Maharaj, Councillor Dave Maharaj and the vice chairman of the Municipal Police Committee met with the Corporation’s senior engineer and senior officers of the Arima Municipal Police (AMP) to undertake a review and assessment of the security arrangements and procedures of the AMP’s locations.

The release stated that the council will meet with the Corporation to discuss the concerns raised by the AMP during the meeting.
