The sod will be turned for the $500 million Marriott hotel at Rocky Point on Tuesday.
The event is expected to be attended by several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and Chief Secretary Farley Augustine. The four-star hotel will feature 200 rooms, villas, townhouses and recreational amenities.
Augustine has spoken glowingly about the project, which is expected to boost both the quantity and quality of Tobago’s room stock. The project is also expected to create hundreds of jobs during the construction phase.
