Four schools cleared after bomb threat searches

Four schools have been cleared by po­lice af­ter bomb threats were re­port­ed at Ari­ma North Sec­ondary, El Do­ra­do East Sec­ondary, El Do­ra­do West Sec­ondary and Tu­na­puna Sec­ondary.

The Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion said the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice re­spond­ed to the schools af­ter re­ceiv­ing in­for­ma­tion about the threats.

Of­fi­cers from the Ex­plo­sive De­tec­tion and Dis­pos­al Unit and Spe­cial Branch searched the schools but found no ex­plo­sive de­vices or sus­pi­cious items.

The TTPS sub­se­quent­ly cleared the schools as safe for nor­mal op­er­a­tions.

The Min­istry said es­tab­lished school safe­ty and emer­gency pro­to­cols were fol­lowed, in­clud­ing co­or­di­na­tion with pro­tec­tive ser­vices and mea­sures to ac­count for stu­dents and staff dur­ing emer­gen­cies.

It is urg­ing par­ents, guardians and mem­bers of the pub­lic to re­ly on of­fi­cial up­dates and not cir­cu­late un­ver­i­fied in­for­ma­tion.
