Mayaro man dies after early morning bar brawl

A 31-year-old Ma­yaro man died ear­ly Sat­ur­day af­ter he was in­jured dur­ing a fight at a bar in St Ann’s Vil­lage.

Po­lice said Ro­mario Gon­za­les, al­so known as “Bucky”, was at a bar on Guayagua­yare Road around 12:20 a.m. when he got in­to an ar­gu­ment with two oth­er men.

Gon­za­les re­port­ed­ly stabbed both men dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion. By­standers in­ter­vened and the two in­jured men were tak­en to the Ma­yaro Health Fa­cil­i­ty.

Gon­za­les was lat­er tak­en to hos­pi­tal by a pass­er-by, where he was treat­ed for his in­juries. He died around 1 a.m.

Of­fi­cers of the Re­gion II Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
