The Trinidad and Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association (TTPBA) has elected a new board of directors to serve for the 2026-2028 term.
The board was elected at the association’s annual general meeting on August 27 at the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Christianne Elcock of Family-Focus Broadcasting Network and Isaac 98.1 FM will serve as president, with Jason Corbie of 103.1 FM as vice president.
Gerhard Pettier of Guardian Media Ltd will serve as treasurer.
The other directors are Douglas Wilson of Trinidad Express Newspaper Ltd/OCM Group, Kiran Maharaj of Caribbean Lifestyle Communications Ltd, Kimoy Thomas-Williams of TTT Ltd, Tova Satnarine-White of Guardian Media Ltd, and Raoul de Souza of Hott 93 and Taj 92.3/OCM Group.
The TTPBA said media viability and sustainability will remain a key priority for the association.
It cited the closure of media outlets across the Caribbean, including Newsday in Trinidad and Tobago, as evidence of the economic, technological and regulatory pressures facing the industry.
The association also pointed to the impact of digital technology and artificial intelligence on media, including opportunities for greater efficiency and content creation, as well as concerns over misinformation, disinformation, verification and ethical journalism.
The TTPBA said it will advocate for policies that support a viable and independent media industry, while helping media professionals develop skills for an increasingly digital and AI-driven environment.
It also said it would promote responsible journalism and work with stakeholders to help shape the future of the industry.
