Heat Wave edged Jus­ti­fied in an ex­cit­ing fin­ish on Sat­ur­day to claim the ac­co­lade of first boat to To­ba­go in the an­nu­al in­ter­is­land Great Race.

Heat Wave, manned by John Michael Sab­ga and Mor­gan Hon­nock, is in the 80 mph Class E.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands sev­er­al boats, in­clud­ing Ex­treme Mea­sures and Iron Man, en­coun­tered chal­lenges on the jour­ney and have pulled out of the race.

The coun­try is un­der a yel­low-lev­el alert, with sea con­di­tions rough and bad weath­er ex­pect­ed.

Nonethe­less, hun­dreds have al­ready gath­ered at Store Bay to wit­ness the spec­ta­cle and en­joy the rev­el­ry.
