Man held with cocaine and marijuana in Curepe

A 28-year-old man was ar­rest­ed and charged af­ter mu­nic­i­pal po­lice al­leged­ly found co­caine and mar­i­jua­na in his pos­ses­sion dur­ing a pa­trol in Curepe on Tues­day.

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Ser­vice said Act­ing Woman Cor­po­ral Ri­va Ram­la­gan, Woman Po­lice Con­sta­ble Shiv­ana James and Con­sta­ble Pe­ter Thomp­son were on mo­bile pa­trol near the Ch­agua­nas/Cunu­pia Taxi Stand on Have­lock Street at 4.47 p.m. when they saw the man act­ing sus­pi­cious­ly.

Po­lice said the man looked at the of­fi­cers and at­tempt­ed to dis­card a black plas­tic bag.

A search al­leged­ly found five pack­ets con­tain­ing 21.6 grammes of co­caine on the man.

Of­fi­cers al­so searched the bag and al­leged­ly found 97.7 grammes of mar­i­jua­na.

The man was tak­en to the Tu­na­puna/Pi­ar­co Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion, where he was charged with pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na and co­caine.

The TTMPS com­mend­ed the of­fi­cers for their “pro­fes­sion­al­ism and ded­i­ca­tion” and said their vig­i­lance helped re­move nar­cotics from the com­mu­ni­ty.
